——————

Official Poem by Joslin Murphy

In this thirty-eighth year of the grandest of ’spiels
Twenty four teams came to kick up their heels

For a glorious evening of dancing ’til dawn
And some vigorous skating down at the Pond

From Boston came Claflin and Wellington too
Formidable opponents - that stick wielding crew

Broomstones’ Vassar and Ho, Dacey and Fink
Last time I looked they were still buying drinks

Yetman and Claflin, Carruthers and Carr
Canadian Club teams from more near than afar

And our southernmost team, that team of Clark Neill’s
Who came up from the Cape to spin rocks in this ’spiel

From fair Montreal, teams one, two, and three
Rochford, Shatilla, and Miron Macyshyn

Two newcomers from Canada joined in the fete
St. Catherine’s Couchman, Mount Bruno’s Morissette

The lure of the Mixing Bowl brought Nashua’s elite
Those stalwart competitors, Sir Darrell and Pete

Two hybrids this year, the Icemakers and Pumpkins
Lead by Lorraine - and the mischievous Gosselin

The Country Club’s foursome, ever so merry
Farrington, Ladd, Vineyard and Perry

But most significant of all in this thirty-eighth year
We observe the conclusion of a noteworthy career

An extraordinary fellow we’ve been so honored to know
Is heading back, to Ontari - o

We thank him so dearly, for spinning his craft
at this wonderful bonspiel, and at those that have passed

After thirty-two years it’s high time for a rest
Good wishes to you, Dale, we all wish you the best!
